Abstract Quantum optics based on highly excited atoms, also known as Rydberg has cemented itself a powerful platform for the manipulation of light at few-photon level. The blockade, resulting from strong interaction between individual can turn large ensemble atoms into system which collectively resembles single two-level emitter, so-called superatom. coupling this artificial emitter to driving photonic mode is enhanced by interactions, enabling coherent level in free-space. exquisite control achievable through already demonstrated its utility applications quantum computing and information processing.
